What is a Lash Lift?

A Lash Lift uses a specially formulated keratin solution to curl your natural lashes into a beautiful, curved shape that can make them appear fuller while framing your eyes. This process works similarly to how you would perm the hair on your head .

However, a lift is not the same as a perm. Lash Perms are a separate process that uses the same products as you would use in a full head perm. This can sometimes be a preferred option if you have very long lashes.

At your Lash Lift appointment, your lashes will be gently curved around a soft, silicone pad that adheres to your eyelid. This pad and the applied keratin products will shape your lashes to the desired curl type.

Conditioning and setting products are also applied to keep the lashes supple and soft. The entire process will take around 45 minutes to an hour and at the end, you get weeks of beautiful, curled lashes.

What are the Benefits of a Lash Lift and Tint?

A Lash Lift and Tint can spell relief for anyone who must avoid eye makeup due to allergies that cause itchy, watery eyes. Other benefits include:

  • Enhance your natural eyelashes
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Make your makeup routine faster
  • No need for mascara
  • Make your eyes look brighter and more open

What Should I do Before My Lash Lift Appointment?

Day of the Appointment: For best results, your lashes should be clean and free of makeup or products when you come into your appointment. If you wear contact lenses, they will need to be removed during the procedure. Be prepared to take them out or plan to wear glasses that day instead. It is also a good idea to wash your hair right before the appointment as you will need to avoid getting the lashes wet for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment.

The Days Before: We recommend that you avoid oil based (waterproof) mascaras for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. The oil can interfere with the effectiveness of the lifting products and residue tends to stay on lashes even after washing.

Lash extensions should also be removed at least three days before your lash lift, though a week is better. You should also not curl your lashes for at least a day before your appointment. Two days or more is even better.

Aftercare and Maintenance for Lash Lift and Tint

Aftercare: To ensure the best results, you must take extra care with your lashes for at least 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. This includes avoiding eye makeup, getting your lashes wet, and also avoiding strenuous exercise that could result in sweat getting in your eyes. Saunas, excessive humidity, and swimming can also affect the effectiveness of the lift.

Maintenance: One of the best advantages of Lash Lifts is that they require little maintenance. However, to keep your curled lashes looking as nice as long as possible, it is best to avoid oil-based eye makeup, and also avoid rubbing your eyes excessively. While you do not need to be as careful as you would with lash extensions, the gentler you are with your lifted lashes, the more long-lasting the results.

Should I get a Lash Lift and Tint at the Same Time?

Lash Lifts are often combined with Eyelash Tinting in the same visit. While a Lash Lift will provide beautiful results on its own, a Tint can make your lashes look even fuller and eliminate the need for mascara. A Tint will also only add another 10 minutes to the process.

Who can get a lash lift?

A lash lift can improve the appearance of almost any natural lashes. It can make thinner or shorter lashes look more full and give thicker lashes the appearance of having extensions. Here are some other considerations:

Minimum Eyelash Length: Lash Lifts will not work on eyelashes that are under 4 mm in length. Average lashes are 10 mm so most people will not have an issue with this. However, if your lashes were previously damaged, you may have to wait for them to grow in again before getting a lash lift or tint.

Sensitivities: Some may also have a sensitivity to the products used. This is rare and a patch test prior to the procedure will reveal if there are issues.

Expectations: A Lash Lift and Tint can give your natural lashes a major boost but it will not achieve the same results as extensions. For those who have very fine lashes, a Lash Lift can improve appearance but for more noticeable volume or length, your O.P.STUDIO technician may recommend extensions.

Hair Type: Some hair types may require extra time to properly curl. If you find it difficult for the hair on your head to hold a curl, your eyelashes will have the same issue. This does not mean you will not be able to get a lift, but you may need to plan for extra time at your appointment.

How Long Will My Lash Lift and Tint Last?

Both Lifts and Tints will last several weeks. Most clients will get at least four weeks from each treatment, with Lifts often lasting longer than tints. Six weeks or longer for both is also not uncommon. The total time will depend largely on your hair type, your lifestyle and your lash care routine.
